JAN 31/16~(4:30 pm)~-~D. B. Perks & Associates Life Saving Society Scholarship~Deadline ~Four (4) scholarships valued at $500 each year. ~The award is to support and assist Lifesaving Society trained lifeguards and instructors pursuing post secondary education in BC & Yukon. ~Nominees must currently hold Lifesaving Society awards and be actively employed by an affiliate as a lifeguard or Lifesaving Society instructor, part time or full. ~Nominees must also be pursuing post-secondary education at a university, college or vocation school in BC/Yukon in the following year. ~See website for details and forms:www.lifesaving.bc.ca/db-perks-lifesaving-society-scholarships~

 

MAR 15/14 - The Trevor Linden Community Spirit Scholarship (The Canucks for kids Fund) - 4 x $2500 awards to recognizes 4 student leaders who are residents of BC and entering their first year of post secondary education. ~Students need to be in good academic standing (cumulative high school grade point average of at least 75%) and demonstrate exceptional leadership in both in-school and extra-curricular community service. ~They must have made exceptional contributions to both school and community service, initiating community development, leadership, affecting positive change, mentoring others, and/or personal development and growth. ~A 600-word essay and a letter of reference are also required. MAR 31/14~- Richmond Country Club Junior Golf Bursary - This is an opportunity for promising junior golfers who may not otherwise be able to maintain or afford an annual junior golf membership at a private golf club to be a member of the RCC Junior Golf Program. The current value of an annual junior golf membership is $595 + tax.
Open to boys and girls who meet the criteria set out below. The criteria may be altered by the Junior Scholarship Committee at any time without notice.

- Available to boys and girls aged 11 to 16
- Must actively participate in all aspects of RCCís Junior Golf Program
- Must have and maintain a minimum average scholastic standing of 70%
- Should have a qualified resume of volunteer work and proven~participation in extracurricular and community activities
- Participation on school or community athletic teams, or in zone or provincial golf~tournaments, will be viewed favourably
- Successful applicants must volunteer to assist the Junior Golf Coordinator throughout~the year

 

A maximum of four (4) annual golf memberships will be awarded each season: 2 for boys and 2 for girls. APR 15/15 The Pacific Coast Field Lacrosse League is pleased to announce the eighth annual $2,000 bursary for graduating Grade 12 students who are registered players in the U19 league. ~Players must have good lacrosse ability, demonstrate good sportsmanship, give back to the sport of field lacrosse through coaching and/or refereeing and hold a 2.5 minimum GPA. APR 17/15 Maple Leaf Awards - The awards are designed to recognize well-rounded British Columbian students who demonstrate an understanding of Canadian identity and have exceptional achievements in one or more of the following:
-Outstanding achievements in Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Applied Arts or Digital Media
-Exemplary contributions to the community locally, nationally, and/ or internationally
-Exceptional athletic achievement.

APR 18/14 - Richmond Youth Soccer Assoc. Scholarship Deadline - RYSA is providing three (3) scholarships in the amount of $750 each to the current Gr 12 graduating class of boys who have played soccer in Richmond. Candidates must have played with a team affiliated with the Richmond Youth Soccer Assoc. for three or more years and be currently participating in some capacity in youth soccer. He must demonstrate proficiency in soccer and have shown worthwhile contribution to the sport - refereeing or coaching. He must also demonstrate good citizenship, character and leadership qualities and have an academic average of C+ or better. Candidates must be a resident of the city of Richmond and be proceeding to a University or post-secondary institution. Applications are available from your Career Centre at school.

 

April 20/16 - Richmond Girls Soccer Association Scholarship (RGSA) - The Richmond Girls Soccer Association (RGSA) annually awards $2000.00 in total scholarships with a maximum of 4 scholarships to be awarded from that amount, to Grade 12 graduating girls who are currently involved in an RGSA program as a player, coach, referee or any other position within the RGSA. The successful applicant will satisfy or has achieved some or all of the following criteria:
ï A minimum of four years involvement as a player in RGSA programs.
ï Be currently involved in an RGSA program (as Player, Coach, Administrative Volunteer, or Referee).
ï Currently, or in the past four years, has served as Coach, Volunteer, Referee in an RGSA program.
ï Currently resides in the City of Richmond.
ï An academic standing of a minimum C+ average.
ï Has demonstrated good citizenship and leadership.

 

APR 30/15 $500 Sweat Your Way To Grad Scholarship Deadline We are pleased to announce the InviteRight SchoolTools scholarship program for graduating high school students across Canada.~The scholarship encourages students to be active and involved in their school and community.~Open to Grade 12 student athletes who demonstrates school spirit throughout the year. Include special awards (MVP, team captain, league championship, class president etc.). Submit links to videos, web pages or Facebook pages that highlight your contributions and show off all your great accomplishments. Include the name/letter of the supporting athletic teacher/director.

APR 30/15 - BC Hockey Scholarships Deadline - Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving recipients who are in their graduating year of high school and are presently registered members with BC Hockey, or former members of the organization currently playing in the Western Hockey League.

MAY 1/15 - Richmond City Baseball Assoc. Scholarship Deadline (nomination letter required) - These awards, offered in denominations of $500 to $1000 up to a maximum of $2000 annually, are awarded to students who have demonstrated academic and leadership achievements in community, athletics and school. ~Students must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident graduating from a British Columbia secondary school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or B average and have played a minimum of one year (season) in the RCBA within the past 5 calendar years. ~Students must have applied to or is planning to attend a post secondary institution after graduation. ~The application requires a nomination letter from someone who is well acquainted with you and who can comment on your character, academic qualifications, and leadership. MAY 8/15 BC School Sports Subway Soccer Scholarship - ~This scholarship is dedicated to assisting worthy BC School Sports student-athletes competing in soccer at the high school level in their desire to attend an accredited Canadian post-secondary school. ~The Subway Soccer Scholarship rewards excellence in both scholastic and athletic pursuits. ~The successful applicants will be student-athletes who have balanced their achievements as soccer athletes with significant success as leaders and contributors to their community. ~There will be four scholarships of $500 each that will be awarded to two male and two female student-athlete enrolled in member schools (see: ~http://www.bcschoolsports.ca/member-services/member-schools~for a list of member schools) who apply, and who meet all of the criteria. ~Please see the overview and instructions on the BC Sports Website for specific information regarding this scholarship: ~www.bcschoolsports.ca/recognition/scholarships~

 

MAY 11/16 - Bert & Greta Quartermaine Badminton Scholarship -Application Deadline. This year, there will be six scholarships of $1000 each that will be awarded to three male and three female student-athletes enrolled in member schools. Consideration will be given to an applicant's participation in badminton for a school team, their volunteerism and involvement in their community. MAY 16/16 - BC School Sports Scholarships - application deadline. 16 awards totaling $8,400
Dave Gifford Memorial Awards:2 x $1000 each
This scholarship is for one male and one female student who truly excel as a student-athlete. Applicants must have competed in at least two BCSS approved sports during grade 12. Unsuccessful applicants for the Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship will automatically be considered for their respective Zone Scholarship.
Zone Awards:2 x $500 to each of the 7 zones (1 male/1 female)

JUN 17/16 BigSun Scholarship deadline
The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. In order to do our part we are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. A short essay (500 - 1,000 words) is required.

JUN 30/16 BC Sports Hall of Fame Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards Deadline
Every year the BC Sports Hall of Fame awards two Jack Farley Youth Sports Achievement Awards. These scholarships are awarded to one outstanding male and one outstanding female amateur athlete graduating from a BC secondary school. These students will excel in a particular sport and exemplify the values, commitment and contribution to the community held by Jack Farley, an honoured member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Winners will receive $2,000, which is to be applied to their education at a post-secondary institution here in British Columbia. Applicants must be graduating from grade 12 and demonstrate that they plan to attend a registered college or university in British Columbia within 12 months of graduation.

SEP 30/16 BC Junior Golf Association Gerry Walker Memorial Scholarship Deadline
The British Columbia Golf Player Development Trust Fund invites applications from young men and women who reside in British Columbia and are Canadian citizens. Ten (10) x $1000 scholarships will be offered to promising young "scholastic golfers" to assist them with tuition and other expenses in pursuing a post-secondary education.
