MAR 31/14  2014 Cressey Arts Grant deadline extended
The Cressey Arts Grant is a bursary program open (2014 only) to grade 11 and 12 secondary students in School District No. 38, Richmond. The grant was established by Cressey Development Group (home builder) to recognize and reward the artistic and musical talents of students.  To apply, students are asked to create and submit one original piece of art or music that depicts their vision for “living a healthy life in Richmond” plus a 500-word essay explaining their creation. Submissions can be created using materials of choice including but not limited to: paper, water colour and oil paint, charcoal, clay, photography, digital programs, and musical compositions. One (1) award of $3,000, plus four (4) honorariums of $500 will be awarded (finalists will be asked to attend an award ceremony), and finalists’ submissions will be displayed by Cressey Development.  Application forms are available from your Career Centre or at:  Deadline: March 31, 2014. extended


APR 2016 - Super Scholarship Society is offering two $1,400 scholarships for students of South Asian heritage pursuing post-secondary education in media or the arts in 2016.  The April 1/2016 deadline has been extended. Awards will be made based on passion, talent, future goals and financial need.


Recognized areas of study: Journalism, Literacy, Media Arts, Communications, Music, Photography, Graphic Arts, Dance, Theatre

MAY 15/16  Richmond Fire Fighter Association ~ Jock Murdoch Memorial Scholarship deadline
This bursary, offered in conjunction with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 5 ( maximum funds $1000) is in memory of Reverend John D. (Jock) Murdoch and will be awarded to a student planning to major in fine arts at a post-secondary institute.  Applicants are required to submit a one page cover letter with a brief history of hobbies, personal and academic interests. APR 30/15- 2015 IODE BC Arts Award deadline There are two awards a Senior Award (for recipients 17-18 years) of $800 and a Junior Award of $500 (for recipients 13-16 years) to assist students in their endeavours in the Arts (Visual or Performing). The winner must show great promise in his/her chosen field and show financial need. Three letters of reference are required. A personal outline must include:
  • Years of formal instruction in the chosen Art and where obtained
  • School achievements-transcript of most recent marks
  • Other accomplishments and Goals for chosen Art
  • Show financial need
  • List of Certificates of achievements in the specific chosen Art

Scholarships for 10 high school students in a drama program from across the province. “Full Access” Event pass for the Mainstage Annual Provincial Theatre Festival, Registration for two Backstage at Mainstage courses (three hour workshop sessons), a guided tour of the Sagebrush Theatre including witnessing and participating in the set-up and tear-down for various productions as they go through the competition, and a ticket for the Final Night Awards Ceremony. We're delighted to announce that the Competition will be run in partnership with Cambridge University Press whose support will enable us to engage even more young writers across the Commonwealth.
The Competition celebrates and nurtures the creative talents of young people across the Commonwealth, providing a platform for students to compete with their peers in each of the 54 nations which make up this unique association. JUN 14/16- South Asian Family Association (SAFA) Scholarship deadline
The South Asian Family Association offers three scholarships in the amount of $1000 each in the following categories:
(1) Academic Excellence
(2) Excellence in Community Involvement
(3) Excellence in Fine Arts

MAY 31/14 - ABCDE Drama Scholarship deadline - the Association of BC Drama Educators will be awarding a scholarship ($750) to a Grade 12 student in British Columbia who intends to pursue a career in Theatre and will be attending a post-secondary institution. Applications are available at:

JUN 30/16 -Elmer Helm Youth Fund Award deadline - Each year, the Alexandra Foundation for Neighbourhood Houses provides financial assistance to deserving students who wish to pursue post-secondary training in the artistic, academic or technical field. Four (4) Elmer Helm Youth Fund awards are available to graduating Gr. 12 students with financial need. Each recipient will receive $1,500 in two payments of $750 in late July and January. To be eligible, students must demonstrate they are planning to pursue studies in a certificate or degree program at the college or university level. Evidence of strong academic achievement and potential is important as is significant community involvment.
