DEC 8/14 - Electronic Arts Teen Animation Scholarship Program/Arts Umbrella offers a unique opportunity for students aged 14-19 to apply for this 15 week program which runs Sundays 2:30 - 4:30pm starting January, 2015, and concludes with a showcase of work at EA Games in June, 2015.  Students will have the chance to work with professional animators from EA Games to explore ideas and experiment with animation, while developing a strong portfolio piece, and improving critical thinking and artistic practice.  Full scholarships for this program will be awarded to accepted students.  For complete information and application, visit your Career Centre or visit:

MAR 31/16 $500 Acting Out Grad - Theatre Arts Scholarship Deadline
Open to Grade 12 students. Show off your theatrics! Students applying for this scholarship should describe how they express themselves through music, acting or working behind-the-scenes. Submit links to videos, web pages or Facebook pages that highlight your contributions and show off all your great accomplishments. Include the name/letter of the supporting Drama teacher. MAR 31/14  2014 Cressey Arts Grant deadline extended
The Cressey Arts Grant is a bursary program open (2014 only) to grade 11 and 12 secondary students in School District No. 38, Richmond. The grant was established by Cressey Development Group (home builder) to recognize and reward the artistic and musical talents of students.  To apply, students are asked to create and submit one original piece of art or music that depicts their vision for “living a healthy life in Richmond” plus a 500-word essay explaining their creation. Submissions can be created using materials of choice including but not limited to: paper, water colour and oil paint, charcoal, clay, photography, digital programs, and musical compositions. One (1) award of $3,000, plus four (4) honorariums of $500 will be awarded (finalists will be asked to attend an award ceremony), and finalists’ submissions will be displayed by Cressey Development.  Application forms are available from your Career Centre or at:   http://www.cressey.com/news/cressey-supports-richmond-students-with-2014-cressey-arts-grant.  Deadline: March 31, 2014. extended

 

APR 2016 - Super Scholarship Society is offering two $1,400 scholarships for students of South Asian heritage pursuing post-secondary education in media or the arts in 2016.  The April 1/2016 deadline has been extended. Awards will be made based on passion, talent, future goals and financial need.

 

Recognized areas of study: Journalism, Literacy, Media Arts, Communications, Music, Photography, Graphic Arts, Dance, Theatre

 

Eligibility
- Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant with a SIN
- At least 15 years of age at time of application
- A high school student graduating in 2016 or earlier planning to attend a post-secondary institution full time
- Minimum of one parent or grandparent of South Asian heritage (India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh)

APR 14/12 (4pm)- Richmond Potters" Club Award Deadline - Award for students graduating this year (2012) from the Richmond School District 38.  Winner of the award will receive a clay class offered by the Richmond Potters's Club as well as a bag of clay and a set of tools total value $200.  Candidates will be required to have samples of their 2-D and 3-D work juried.  Submission of the work must be done on April 19/12 between 6 and 7pm in the Pottery Studio at the Richmond Cultural Centre.  Completed applications must be mailed or dropped off to Richmond Potters' Club, Attn:  Awards Committee, 7700 Minoru Gate, Richmond, B.C.  V6Y 1R9 by April 14/12 (4pm).  See your Career Advisor for application forms.  Questions may be direct to:  El Crighton at 604-276-8855 or Lin Richardson 604-1688     

 

MAY 15/16  Richmond Fire Fighter Association ~ Jock Murdoch Memorial Scholarship deadline
This bursary, offered in conjunction with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 5 ( maximum funds $1000) is in memory of Reverend John D. (Jock) Murdoch and will be awarded to a student planning to major in fine arts at a post-secondary institute.  Applicants are required to submit a one page cover letter with a brief history of hobbies, personal and academic interests. APR 17/15 Maple Leaf Awards - The awards are designed to recognize well-rounded British Columbian students who demonstrate an understanding of Canadian identity and have exceptional achievements in one or more of the following:
-Outstanding achievements in Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Applied Arts or Digital Media
-Exemplary contributions to the community locally, nationally, and/ or internationally
-Exceptional athletic achievement.

APR 30/15- 2015 IODE BC Arts Award deadline There are two awards a Senior Award (for recipients 17-18 years) of $800 and a Junior Award of $500 (for recipients 13-16 years) to assist students in their endeavours in the Arts (Visual or Performing). The winner must show great promise in his/her chosen field and show financial need. Three letters of reference are required. A personal outline must include:
  • Years of formal instruction in the chosen Art and where obtained
  • School achievements-transcript of most recent marks
  • Other accomplishments and Goals for chosen Art
  • Show financial need
  • List of Certificates of achievements in the specific chosen Art
  • Recent publicity (one year limit) about the students personal achievements in the chosen Art (no disks)

APR 30/13  -Theatre BC Mainstage Scholarship
Scholarships for 10 high school students in a drama program from across the province. “Full Access” Event pass for the Mainstage Annual Provincial Theatre Festival, Registration for two Backstage at Mainstage courses (three hour workshop sessons), a guided tour of the Sagebrush Theatre including witnessing and participating in the set-up and tear-down for various productions as they go through the competition, and a ticket for the Final Night Awards Ceremony. MAY 1/13 - Richmond Chinese Community Art Scholarship
Three scholarships ($500., $300. and $200) are being offered in this category.  Applicants must be Richmond residents, graduating from a Richmond public secondary school, and have high abilities in Art, specifically drawing and painting and who will be going to an Art school.  Based on academic achievement and community service,  the recipients or family members must attend a presentation of the scholarship at at time and date to be announced.  Students may use their ' in school application' or 'reference letter request' form and submit this to Mr. Glenn Kishi, at the Richmond School Board Office, 7811 Granville Avenue, Richmond, B. MAY 1/15 postmarked deadline - Indspire Fine Arts Awards Program
This awards program is for students with Aboriginal Ancestry to be used towards full-time certificate or diploma programs, and undergraduate/graduate degree programs from an accredited post secondary institution in the fields such as visual, performing, media, theatre, production, graphic and literary arts. MAY 1/14 - Young Commonwealth Competitions (ROYAL COMMONWEALTH SOCIETY) deadline
We're delighted to announce that the Competition will be run in partnership with Cambridge University Press whose support will enable us to engage even more young writers across the Commonwealth.
The Competition celebrates and nurtures the creative talents of young people across the Commonwealth, providing a platform for students to compete with their peers in each of the 54 nations which make up this unique association. MAY 30/16 Sears DX Canadian High School Design Competition

 

Design Exchange is proud to announce the annual Sears DX Canadian High School Design Competition. This competition promotes the study and awareness of all design disciplines in schools across Canada and is open to all high school students at junior (grades 9 and 10) and senior (grades 11 and 12) levels. Prizes are awarded at both levels in five categories:

JUN 14/16- South Asian Family Association (SAFA) Scholarship deadline
The South Asian Family Association offers three scholarships in the amount of $1000 each in the following categories:
(1) Academic Excellence
(2) Excellence in Community Involvement
(3) Excellence in Fine Arts
In order to be eligible for a scholarship, a student must:  be a student of South Asian descent, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident within the meaning of the Immigration Act, be enrolling in his/her first year of full-time studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada or abroad, and be completing/have completed grade 12 in a British Columbia high school. MAY 31/14 - ABCDE Drama Scholarship deadline - the Association of BC Drama Educators will be awarding a scholarship ($750) to a Grade 12 student in British Columbia who intends to pursue a career in Theatre and will be attending a post-secondary institution. JUN 30/16 -Elmer Helm Youth Fund Award deadline - Each year, the Alexandra Foundation for Neighbourhood Houses provides financial assistance to deserving students who wish to pursue post-secondary training in the artistic, academic or technical field. Four (4) Elmer Helm Youth Fund awards are available to graduating Gr. 12 students with financial need. Each recipient will receive $1,500 in two payments of $750 in late July and January. To be eligible, students must demonstrate they are planning to pursue studies in a certificate or degree program at the college or university level. Evidence of strong academic achievement and potential is important as is significant community involvment.

AUG 8/14 (5pm) - Arts Umbrella Scholarship Application Deadline
Scholarship value: $700
• Full scholarships to 12 artists aged 14 to 19
• 12 week program, Sundays 2:30 - 5:00 pm, starting September 14th , 2014
