OCT 15/14  UVIC Bursaries -  The University of Victoria awards over 3.9 million dollars in Entrance, Transfer and in-Course Bursaries.  Bursaries are non-refundable awards based on financial need and reasonable academic standing.  A student who has completed the Online General Bursary Application will be considered for all applicable awards.  There are two opportunities to apply for the general bursary each year. The deadlines to apply are June 1 for the Summer Session (May to August) and October 15 for the Winter Session (September to April).  There are some exceptional bursaries requiring a separate application which is available directly from the appropriate Athletic Coach, Faculty, School or Department. OCT/14 Wilfred Laurier Laurier Donor Supported Bursary Program Application Deadline -  These bursaries are separate from the Laurier General Tuition Bursary program. Not all eligible candidates will receive funding through the donor supported bursary program. These funds are granted to the candidates who meet all of the stated criteria for each opportunity, and demonstrate the highest financial need, based on the completion of the financial statement which is included in the online student profile:


NOV 6/15 - University of Toronto National Scholarship Program Deadline
National Scholars - The National Scholarship covers tuition and incidental fees for four years, provides full residence support in first year, and includes an additional, renewable monetary award based on individual financial circumstances. The scholarship is tenable only at the University of Toronto.
Arbor Scholars (Runners Up) - Finalists not designated as National Scholars receive Arbor Scholarships. These scholarships are renewable and have a value of $6,000 in the first year and $1,500 per year for three additional years of undergraduate study. The scholarship is tenable only at the University of Toronto.
Please read the application instructions carefully students must arrange for a letter of reference. Please have someone in your school or community write a confidential reference letter supporting your application. You must supply the name of your referee and his/her institutional email address on your application form. Once you’ve submitted your application, an email will be sent to your referee with instructions for submitting the reference online. UofT strongly recommends contacting your referee well before submitting your application, to allow him/her ample time to prepare and submit a reference letter. Referees will have until one week after the application deadline to submit a letter of reference.
Submit your online application by Friday, November 6, 2015. Once you have submitted your application, you will not be able to make any further changes. You will receive a confirmation email after submitting your application.


NOV 7/14: University of Toronto National Scholarship Program Deadline - Ten awards
will be given and will cover tuition and incidentals for a period of 4 years,residence support in the first year and includes additional renewable monetary award (based on financial need). Finalists not selected will receive Arbor Scholarships of $5,000 renewable at $1,500 for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.

DEC 1/13 -Queen's University Major Admission Awards Deadline
Students who demonstrate superior academic ability (average of 90% or greater), original and creative thinking, involvement in school or community activities, and proven leadership qualities may apply for one of the major admission awards. Financial need is also a consideration for some of the awards. Out of the seven awards, 2 are applicable to Richmond resident students; QueensChancellor's Scholarship (requires an additional school nomination) and the Queens Bank of Montreal Award:

DEC 10/14  UBC Major Entrance Scholarship
The Major Entrance Scholarship (MES) program offers a one-time award of approximately $5,000 and renewable awards of up to $40,000 payable over four years.  These scholarships recognize students who excel across the board and who have demonstrated academic and leadership achievements in the arts, community, athletics, and school. Applications are now open for the 2014-15 academic year.  Students will be automatically considered for a Major Entrance Scholarship if they apply to UBC through the online application by December 10, 2014. This is the only way to apply for a Major Entrance Scholarship. The information that Canadian applicants submit in their Academic Profile and Personal Profile sections of the online application will be used for admissions and for consideration for the Major Entrance Scholarship.  This includes paying the admission fee and submitting grade 11 and 12 marks as requested in the online application.  For more information visit:


DEC 15/13 University of Calgary Competitive High School Awards Application Deadline - These include the Chancellor's Club Scholarship, Schulich School of Engineering and new for 2014,  Leader in Health Sciences Awards.  Criteria:  These awards have specific criteria that you must meet to be eligible to apply. DEC 15/13 (early deadline) & MAR 1/14 (final deadline)- University of Calgary Awards & Bursaries based on Academic Merit, Financial Need or Extra-Curricular Activities Application Deadlines - The University of Calgary offers scholarships and bursaries to students applying to the University on the basis of their high school grades.  Value: $500 - $7,500.  Open to students entering first year in an undergraduate degree program in the Fall Term. Students entering the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program or the English for Academic Purposes + Degree program are not eligible for these awards, and should apply prior to entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program. The scholarship average is based on the final grades of five Grade 11 courses (or the final grades of five Grade 12 courses, if available).
There are two deadlines for the High School Awards competition:

JAN 25/16 @ 11 59pm EST University of Guelph Entrance Scholarships
These 12 scholarships are considered the University of Guelph's most prestigious undergraduate awards. Students with an outstanding academic record, who have made significant contributions to their schools and their communities, who have demonstrated innovative and unique approaches to implementing change and/or bringing about improvements to life, and who demonstrate the greatest potential to be future leaders are invited to apply. These scholarships will be allocated as president's Scholarships, Lincoln Alexander Scholarships, David Mirvish Chancellor's Scholarship and Chancellor's Scholarship. You are eligible to apply if you:
  • Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
  • Are entering the first semester of any degree program at the University of Guelph or the University of Guelph-Humber

FEB 1/16  UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award
Are you a Canadian student (citizens and permanent residents) hoping to attend UBC but not sure how you’ll finance it? If so, you may want to apply for a UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award. These awards assist students who are academically qualified, but would not be able to attend without significant financial assistance.  The awards – which can either be a one-time amount or an amount awarded every year for four years – range in value up to $40,000. They are for students on both UBC’s Okanagan and Vancouver campuses and are available to both incoming high-school students and post-secondary transfer students transferring to their first undergraduate degree.  In celebration of UBC’s centennial, additional awards have been included this year.  The application is due by February 1, 2016 at 4:00 pm PST.  The application (Vancouver and Okanagan) is available at:

FEB 22/16 - TRIUMF High School Fellowship Program In-School Deadline - TRIUMF's high school fellowship program offers fellowships to graduating secondary students entering their first undergraduate year at a recognized post-secondary institution.  The fellowship includes an award of $3,000 and a six-week summer research experience at TRIUMF.  The intent of TRIUMF's high school fellowship program is to motivate graduating students with a passionate interest in science to pursue a career in the sciences, especially physics.  Each secondary school is eligible to nominate a maximum of two students (more with permission). The student must have completed both Physics 11 and 12 (or Physics B Advanced Placement) upon graduation; and chemistry is also recommended.  As well, the student must be entering the first year of a full-time degree program within the sciences, engineering or mathematics at a recognized post-secondary institution in the year of nomination. The post-secondary institution does not need to be in Canada. Feb 20/15- Huron University College Scholarships Deadline -
Huron Automatic Entrance Scholarships (no application required) - Scholarships range from 3,000 to $10,000 over 4 years depending on a students average. To qualify students must achieve a final admission average of 80% or better.  Scholarships will be calculated based on the students' final admission average for the program to which they are admitted.
Hellmuth Scholarship (application required) - Up to ten scholarships each valued at $30,000 (over 4 years).  To qualify students normally have a midterm average of 90% or better and outstanding achievement in volunteer/community service, athletic, the arts and/or student life. FEB 28/15  Black Press Scholarship for Business Applicants
A $5,000 Black Press Business Scholarship is available to high school, transfer and continuing students entering the University of Victoria Gustavson School of Business in September 2014. Awards will be based on academic merit, leadership and a demonstrated desire to make a positive difference in the world. The University of Victoria, Faculty of Engineering, is pleased to announce a new Bursary. MAR 1/14 - University of Calgary Admission Scholarships Deadline - Nearly $2.5 million in merit-based scholarships available each year.  No awards application required just apply for admission by March 1, 2014  If you are currently a high school student applying for admission to the University of Calgary in Fall 2014, you will be considered automatically for admission scholarships. MAR 1/13  The Northern Exposure Award (UNBC)
The Northern Exposure Award will be provided to one full-time undergraduate student registered in the 2013-14 academic year. In receiving the award, you will attend UNBC and be exposed to northern experiences, broadcasting them as UNBC's campus correspondent.  It will be your job to live the adventure and share the experience through photos, video, and social media.
The award includes:
~One academic year (fall and winter semesters) of tuition
~Accommodation in the UNBC student residence
~A smartphone package for the 2013-14 academic year
~A $2000 credit in the Bookstore and with Food Services to offset the costs of books, course materials, and food.

AUG 1/13 - Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity (University of Victoria Chapter) Scholarship Deadline - Five (5) scholarships valued at $500 will be awarded to graduating high school males who have demonstrated excellence in leadership, academics and/or athletics who are pursuing their education at the University of Victoria.  Proof of admission and academic performance is required, in addition to the submission of a 500 word essay.  Please see your Career Advisor for an application form.  Forms must be mailed to the Beta Tau Chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon in Victoria and received by Aug. 1/13.   Questions, email Alexander Hermansson at:
