One of the new components of the Revised curriculum is having students be able to self-assess what profile they are in in the newly developed Core Competencies. This is new language for many of our students, and the practice of self-assessing is a good one for them to become familiar with. Our teachers will be working with students to help them become familiar with the language and our school staff is looking at developing a tool to help students be able to self-assess. For more information about the six core competencies (Communication, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Positive Personal and Cultural Identity, Personal Awareness and Responsibility and Social Resonsibility) please go to this website: https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/competencies
Richmond School District has also created some posters that illustrate the language the students need to become familiar with. Those posters are attached below.
