SEVA Breakfast Club

Over the past two years, the themes at McNair Secondary School have been about CARE and Finding your GREATNESS.  One of the ways McNair students show care for one another is through the daily SEVA Breakfast ClubSEVA is a Sanskrit word meaning selfless service, and perhaps considered the most important part of any spiritual practice.

This initiative was started by teaching staff and students four years ago to help students start their day the right way and to provide food to anyone who may be starting school on an empty stomach. The group has raised money through Grant Applications and every week gets bread donated by Cobs Bread at Number 2 Road and Blundell Centre.  The SEVA Breakfast Club is open every day to all students and there is always a large group of people enjoying each other's company as well as some nutirional food products (cereal, yogurt, juice, milk, bread, peanut butter, Nutella, cream cheese etc).  Each semester there is a grand opening where the volunteer students make pancakes.  Below are some photos of the most recent grand opening as well as other pictures of the average day of SEVA.

A very special thank you goes out to the student volunteers (headed by Rhea Mann) and staff as well as our generous donors (mosts specifically Cobs Bread at Number 2 Road and Blundell Center).

"The McNair Seva Club is all about the heart. Every student involved truly enjoys giving back to their community. Every morning we have toast, juice, cereal, milk, and granola bars for students who come to school with an empty stomach. We as a club believe that the only way to start a successful day at school is with a good breakfast!"
