INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LEVEL 1
This course is open to all students in Grades 9 to 12

Information Technology Level 1 introduces students to computer applications and implications. Students will be exposed to keyboarding, electronic communications, multimedia, video editing, computer graphics, programming, computer hardware and desktop publishing. All students in Information Technology Level 1 are encouraged to explore their interests through project-based inquiry. Students will leave this course with a solid foundation in basic technology use.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LEVEL 2
Recommended prerequisite:  Information Technology Level 1 or Teacher Approval

Information Technology Level 2 is a modular course focusing on 2 core pathways involving computers. Students will develop a working knowledge of the nature, uses and limitations of computers through the use of various software applications and hardware peripherals. Students in Information Technology Level 2 are encouraged to narrow down their focus from Level 1 and seek to increase their understanding and mastery of specific programs related to their interests. The IT lab has access to a variety of industry supported software and physical technologies that enhance the student learning experience.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LEVEL 3 – DIGITAL MEDIA DESIGN
Recommended prerequisite:  Information Technology Level 2 or Teacher Approval

Information Technology Level 3- Digital Media Design is a senior level course for students that have a strong foundation in digital media design and wish to improve upon their skills through additional challenges in working with a variety of software. Students in Digital Media Design can expect to be working with web site development, advanced photo manipulation and creating original designs and works of art. The IT lab has access to drawing tablets, a Go-Pro, iPads and a large suite of software that supports all aspects of digital media design.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY LEVEL 3 – COMPUTER PROGRAMMING
Recommended prerequisite:  Information Technology Level 2 or Teacher Approval

Information Technology Level 3 - Computer Programming is a senior level course for students that have a strong foundation in computer programming and wish to improve upon their skills through additional assignments or projects. In Level 3, students have access to a variety of software and hardware to increase their level of understanding in computer programming. The IT lab has access to micro-controllers (arduinos, raspberry pi's and a laser engraver) for student prototyping and project building. Students will learn the social and ethical implications of the products they produce through computer programming and will be involved in user interface and user interaction aspects of their programs.
