Congratulations go out to McNair's Senior Boys Basketball team! The week before Spring Break our team surprised more a few pundits when they qualified for the AAA Provincial Championships. A very young team (they had only one Grade 12 on their roster), the group played extremely well in teh Lower Mainlands, knocking of cross-town rival McMath Wildcats to qualify. Led by great coaching from Joey Dhillon and Mr. Sangra, the team improved tremendously as the season progressed.
The Matthew McNair Marlins Senior Boys basketball team has surprised more than a few fans this year. After a very strong season last year, the team qualified for the Provincial Championships as expected. The team last year was led by several standout Grade 12's (Kevin Yang, Owen Vint, Sunil Chot plus many others), and this year's team was expected to be young and much less experienced. With only one Grade 12 is on the roster (Ryan Angala), and despite a somewhat slow start, the team finished Richmond League play with a 7-3 record.
As we head into the Winter Break, the McNair Marlins Basketball season is well underway! Long considered one of the powerhouse programs in all of Richmond, this year promises to be another one of exciting basketball action. Here is a brief summary of all seven of the teams running this year at McNair. If you are at all interested in Basketball, the games are incredibly exciting to watch, so be sure to come out and support your team and friends! Similarly, if you know how to referee or score-keep, please see Mr. Dhaliwal.
