Madame Catherine Liu, Mr. Greg Thiessen and the Courtyard Beautification Committee (CBC) volunteered all day Saturday, April 30th this past weekend, in an effort to raise money for making our Courtyards more beautiful and user-friendly. From 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM this weekend, they washed cars for several of our community members. The weather was exemplary, and the sunshine brought lots of customers to the McNair parking lot.
Now in April, the entire school is getting ready for a busy conclusion to the school year. Many in classrooms are doing final projects, preparing for Final and Provincial Exams, and students work feverishly to ensure they are doing the best they can with their education. Teachers are also hard at work, planing lessons, figuring out culminating activities, and ensuring that everything that needed to be covered is being done prior to the end of the year. The office is busy preparing to conclude this school year and are already planning for the timetable of next year.
For two weeks, some of the most dedicated and talented students at McNair worked exceedingly hard to perform the Spring Production of Sleepy Hollow. Over 14 shows were performed, the last one taking place on Thursday, March 10th, the evening before Spring Break started. I had the pleasure of watching the final show, and was quite simply blown away!
Matthew McNair Secondary School hosted its first annual Open House on January 21st. The evening opened with some Program Planning Information for parents of our incoming Grade 7's. At 7:00 those parents, plus the parents of our current students came for an Open House combined with Meet the Teacher for Semester 2 courses.

One article that needs to be published from before the holidays was written by Ashley Li and is something we are very proud of at McNair. Our Santa's Brekfast raised almost $1500.00 for the BC Bhildren's Hospital, and we ,made the donation over the holidays. Below is Ashley's article.

Another of the great events at Matthew McNair on the last day before the Winter Holidays is the annual Breakfast with Santa. Hosted by Student Council, over 350 staff and students come to the lounge starting at 7:45 AM. For $4 each, people are served pancakes, yogurt, juice, sausages and a mandarin orange. All proceeds are given to the BC Children's Hospital, and this year, we generated well over $1200.00!!!
