Great year! Filled with school spirit and pride

The 2024-2025 school year has been a good one, filled with school spirit and pride, reflected in the school theme “Marlin Strong.” Our school's strength was represented the school's dedication to resilience, unity, and excellence. The theme of “Marlin Strong” encouraged students to support one another, strive for personal bests, and contribute positively to their community. Whether through academics, athletics, or the arts, McNair students were empowered to lead with integrity and compassion.  Every student was encouraged to be strong, capable, and community minded.

Students at Matthew McNair Secondary School participated:

In School Spirit Events: Activities like assemblies, pep rallies, and themed dress-up days are open to all students and are a great way to show school pride.

In Clubs and Teams: Many participated in student clubs, leadership groups, or athletic teams. Joining these groups gave students a direct role in planning and participating.

In many Volunteer opportunities: Students can help set up, run, or clean up after events. This is a great way to earn volunteer hours and contribute to the school community.

In Competitions or Showcases: Students were showcased in talents shows, sports tournaments, and academic challenges

In Flex Time: Some events, like prep sessions or workshops, are held during flex periods, allowing students to join without missing class

All of these things have contributed to a “Marlin Strong” culture

In surveying students a few time at McNair, we looked at sense of belonging by assessing the quality and number of meaningful relationships youth have with their peers, staff, and the community.
