As we came to the end of the 2017-18 school year, the staff at McNair started to ask some questions about what our next focus should be.  We felt we had done a very good job of building the culture of Care, by bringing in Breaking Down the Walls, Beautifying our Courtyard and constantly reinforcing the messages of Caring and Kindness that have come to define what McNair is all about.  We will continue to promote the value of Care, but felt that the next focus of our school should be achieving Excellence…

In conversation with several staff, it was felt that so any of our students achieve truly excellent things in their endeavours. When engaged and inspired, our students have truly amazed us with performances in Music and Theatre, they have exceeded expectations with Leading others and inspiring change in the world (our Marlinaires and Student Council have done remarkable things for others), and our Athletic teams and athletes have put in countless hours to better themselves and improve their skills, and many of our best Academics have achieved astounding results on Provincial exams and contests.  The work that goes in to so many of these endeavours is remarkable, and has served as inspiration for all of our students and staff, who are now asking the question, “If you can bring that kind of energy, work ethic and passion to SOME of your educational pursuits, how can we get you to bring that enthusiasm to ALL of your pursuits?” and “How do we help you to push yourself to be excellent in ALL that you do?”

Our focus for the 2018-19 school year will continue to be promoting Community, Caring and Kindness, but we will be expanding that focus to include pushing our students to be Excellent in all they do.  Raising our expectations and inspiring our students to achieve better is a focus that should help our students meet with even more success…
